Editorial Policy
Sources
Guides, regional crop profiles and directory records are researched from primary sources: land-grant university Extension services, USDA agencies (NRCS, FSA, NASS, RMA, AMS, NIFA), SARE, ATTRA and the providers' own websites. Every guide lists its sources with the date they were checked. We summarize sources in our own words and link to them.
Review before publication
Nothing agronomic, veterinary, engineering or legal is published automatically. Each guide and regional crop profile is written, checked against its sources by an editor, and reviewed by a qualified specialist (for example an Extension educator, agronomist or veterinarian) before publication. The reviewer's name and the review date appear on the page. Drafts with unresolved verification notes cannot be approved.
What we do not publish
We do not publish yields, income projections, profitability scores, stocking rates, planting dates presented as precise for a field, fertilizer or pesticide prescriptions, veterinary treatment instructions, machinery operating instructions, construction designs or universal cost estimates. Where numbers matter, we link to the official source that publishes them, because they change.
Regional guidance
Regional crop profiles keep three ideas apart: what is historically produced in a state (USDA statistics), what is broadly suited to a region's climate (Extension), and what suits a particular field (only site-specific evidence can say). We never claim the last one.
Directory
The resource directory is curated, not exhaustive. Records show the provider's service area, office location when published, the page we verified, and the verification date. We do not publish ratings or reviews. If sponsored listings are ever added, they will be labeled and will not affect ordering or relevance.
Equipment
Equipment guides describe categories and decision questions. Links to manufacturers are category pages, not recommendations, and we have no affiliate relationships. If that changes, affiliate links will be disclosed on the page.
Updates and corrections
Directory records and guides are re-checked on a schedule, outbound links are checked automatically, and pages show when they were last checked. To report an error, contact us or use Report a correction on a directory record.
